The shandygaff, a popular English drink that combines beer and ginger beer or ginger ale, dates back to 1853. Our modern update relies on a hoppy craft IPA and a throat-tickling ginger beer, plus a few dashes of fragrant bitters.
Ingredients:
1 (12-ounce) bottle IPA, such as Lagunitas Little Sumpin', chilled
1/4 cup ginger beer, chilled
3 dashes orange or ginger bitters (optional)
Orange slice for garnish
Method:
Combine ale, ginger beer and bitters, if desired, in a tall beer glass and stir until blended. Garnish with orange slice.
