SLOAN Estate Winery is nestled in the eastern hills of the Rutherford appellation of Napa Valley. Planted in 1997 to just under 14 acres of vines, the vineyard is made up of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot. The unique layout and direction of the rolling slopes provide for warmth and sunshine to achieve optimal ripeness and physiological tannin maturity. With David Abreu leading the cultivation of the vineyard, Martha McClellan and her team in the winery, and Michel Rolland as the consulting oenologist, the SLOAN Estate team is devoted to making the finest wines possible that are true to the unique characteristics of the hillside estate vineyard.

A bit brickish in appearance. The vintage definitely shows on the nose, damp forest floor, purplish flowers like lilac or lavender, truffles, a little green and red berries. Nicely layered. Medium tannins (7/10) and medium plus bodied. Beefed up with some air. Needs a healthy decant but has some notes of cherries, cedar, spices and a bit of earthiness. Drink till 2026.

Big fruit forward, yet well balanced and structured. This is an amazing wine that improves by the minute.

Nice representation of a Rutherford cab with dust, tar, and integrated fruit. Soft tannins are still present and the wine can be consumed immediately upon opening the bottle.

Raspberry and blackberry with an essence of violet on the nose. Well balanced and gripping sandy tannins. Atypical of 2011 - beautiful!
