Morisfarms is the Tuscan estate of the Parentini family, which comprises an impressive 420 hectares under vine, with the vast majority of vineyards lying within the Morellino di Scanscano subzone of the rugged Maremma region in southwestern Tuscany. The wines of Morellino stylistically represent a hypothetical blend between the generally medium-bodied, red fruity, spicy and tangy wines of Chianti and the more plummy and serious wines of Brunello. The Avvoltore is the Morisfarms version of a Super Tuscan, their IGT, which is made up of seventy-five percent Sangiovese, twenty percent Cabernet Sauvignon and five percent Syrah.

Soft tannins and acidity. Light on its feet with Syrah and cab undertones. Dark berries with a hint of earth and spice. Medium intensity. Not quite what I was hoping for.

Blend of Sangiovese (75%), Cab Sav, and Syrah. Drinking well but will last. Great meal at il pelicano outside Porto Ercole.
