In the 80's newlyweds Milena and Aldo were already cultivating a little area of Ravera planting 100% Nebbiolo. This wine is the expression of a wait lasting more than ten years, allowing the vines to ripen and the wines to gain the right structure. From the sunniest, most silent and beautiful amphitheater of the area.

I believe that this is my 2nd bottle, but I must not have posted notes the first time around. The color is uncharacteristically medium (almost deep) ruby with a garnet rim. White pepper, licorice, cedar, and muted red and black fruit on the nose with medium intensity. On the palate, the wine is of course dry with a medium body, medium plus alcohol (14.5), and medium plus dry tannins. The flavor profile is developing, and we know this is young-- but already the black cherry (with it's medium plus acidity) is giving way to a more baked version. Whatever detectable wood there is forms the "crust" of this old cherry pie. In time, I suspect this Barolo will generate tertiary leather and dirt-- it is indeed destined for greatness. I will do my best to not open bottle number 3 at least for another year--but dont hold your breath however. 94 points
