Foradori Granato Teroldego 2011

$60

The estate consists of 16 hectare, spread over 15 parcels, all farmed biodynamically. All Teroldego vines are planted in the Campo Rotaliano, the 'grand cru' of Teroldego. The soils are a mixture of sandy alluvial deposits and morainic limestone from the nearby dolomites. While the vineyards are flat, they have excellent drainage.

Very intense nose. Barnyard, and mushroom. The palate is long and full. Inky plum.

Biggest of Elisabetta's wines, only one she produces that see's oak fermentation (the rest are clay amphoras) and you can taste it. A few more years to get the rich cherry and dried pomegranate flavors integrated with the oak would to it wonders.

The most full style of her wines, due to much more time in oak (both ferment and aging) and needs decanting when young. This is a steak wine if there ever was one from the Veneto!

This wine could use a lot of time in the bottle, but it is dense and really interesting now. Strong iron note on the finish. Decant!!

Such a delicious Teroldego, perfect with bucatini bolognese.

Nice country red, especially with squid ink pasta at Stone's Throw on SF. Luisa Ponzi liked it too.

More classically styled than the amphora wines, this still has that brambly, savory, leafy character. It’s a bit reminiscent of a great Cabernet Franc - maybe that’s why Foradori is keen on those at Ampeleia
