E. Fuligni (Cottimelli) Fuligni Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese 2010
The Fuligni family situated their vineyards in the eastern part of Montalcino at the beginning of the 19th century. The house style melds Sangiovese typicity with generous, ample textures. This is often confused with having a modern touch, yet the Brunellos are aged almost exclusively in large cask, with very little oak influence. This is the style of house, aiming to create a Brunello for enjoyment today and through the years, and is achieved mainly in the vineyard, where severe pruning and hand selection determines the quality of the fruit. The results are absolutely stunning. The Fuligni Brunello shows gorgeous density with ripe fruit character, yet remains poised and perfectly balanced. It can be enjoyed today or placed in the cellar for mid-term maturity.

What a great year. This was just a test. This is a 20+ year wine. Medium. Great structure. Good tannins. Smooth. If you only have a bottle or two then give it another year to check out. But my guess is at 15 this should be shinning.

Open and intense - just like almost every Brunello from this awesome vintage. Fuligni's usually require a few more years aging before they totally blossom. I'd actually almost never recommend them after immediate release but this vintage is different.
