Close de Beze Les Ouvrees Rodin is an exclusive cuvee produced from two of Domaine Faiveley's plots sitting in the southern portion of this famed terroir. Vines here date back to 1949 and are planted in rich soils of limestone on an eastern slope.

No. 6 of 9 in the Gevrey Chambertin Grand Cru 2016 tasting. Dark Ruby in colour. Obviously of Grand Cru quality on nose and palate. Notes of pepper spice and red fruits. A colleague to my left who has a 6000 bottle cellar and head of the Chevaliers in Australia said that Beze is more spicy than Le Chambertin. Hate to think what this is worth. A luxurious wine. On revealing its identity it turns out the “Les Ouvrees Rodin” comes off a plot of less than one acre would you believe. Vines are over 60 years old. Wonderful quality which you could drink now it is so delicious but I see Decanter has a drinking window of 2026 to 2045. Rarer than Faiveleys standard Clos de Beze.
