Domaine Bruno Clair Bonnes Mares Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2016
This vineyard expresses all the complexity of the 'pinot noir'. In all years, one finds there an immense finesse in smoothness with deep, full and generous tannins.They have this characteristic for a great wine, to be at the same time wines of very great guard never not presenting signs of austerity in their youth.This piece of land is located on the commune of Morey St-Denis (by the Clos de Tart) planted half in 1946 and half in 1980.

The 2016 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru has an intense bouquet with blackberry, redcurrant and cranberry scents laced with tobacco and woodland aromas. Lovely definition and focus here. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, enormous depth and great concentration, perhaps the most Musigny-esque of the Bonnes-Mares. Great length but it needs some serious cellaring. Enormous potential here. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting. (Neal Martin, Vinous, October 2019)
