Domaine Anne Gros Les Loachausses Echezeaux Grand Cru Pinot Noir 2016

$315$250.25

Anne Gros took over the Domaine in 1988 after her father Francois fell ill and subsequently passed away. Wine was in her blood and today she is one of the acclaimed wine producers in Burgundy today. The Echezeauz is one of the three Grand Crus of the Domaine and the first vintage at the located of Les Loachausses was in 2007 when it was returned to the Domaine after a 25 year lease to Domaine Gros Frere et Souer. The wine is delicate and feminine with velvety tannins, soft, fruity structure and a subtle hint of spice.

The 2016 Echézeaux Les Loachausses Grand Cru has a very detailed and focused bouquet. My instinct tells me that this is already beginning to close down compared to its showing from barrel. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin. There is a fine bead of acidity, silky smooth in texture with a caressing white pepper tinged, black cherry and bilberry finish. There is still a little oak to be subsumed, but given the frost that affected this vineyard, this is a great success for Anne Gros. Tasted at the Domaine Direct Tasting in London.
