Geez…was expecting a extracted heavy handed wine but it tasted of Rayas texture, silky, sinewy and just nice gently nuanced fruit, spices for the hour! Need to buy more 89’s!! Wow

1989 vintage from 3L. Amazing!! Siberian forest, wet stone, dried lavender. Acid and structure amazing. Opera music plays in my head when I drink it.

A really beautiful nose. Violets, roses, a little bloodiness. Meatiness. Really light and pure. Very settled on the palate. With time the finish is fleshing out. Really pretty- soft, long and sweet. Light and really good

From a great looking bottle with a good fill. Dark and opaque in the glass. Impactful nose. Lots of fruit, with the herbal and gaminess that the 89 can possess. But this is more elegant and rounded than bottles I’ve had before. The fruit and the soft structure are in harmony. I’ve had this maybe a dozen or more times over many years… this bottle might have been the best. .

Oh wow. Beaucastle is variable but this bottle is a peach. A gorgeous expansive nose with dark gnarly fruit, tobacco, plum herbs. The palate is wonderfully giving, with deep fruit, still fresh, but loads of secondary notes and soft subtle edges. Really long and pure and savory. By a mile the best bottle of this wine I’ve had with none of the thickness, brett or heat you sometimes find here. A treat

From a perfect looking bottle with a high fill, not from the leaker batch. Still on the purple side of tawny. Translucent, young and light on its feet. Bright noble nose with high pitched notes of Herbs de Provence, raspberry, rhubarb. Has an animalistic kind of mouth feel, rich and exotic. Evolves in the glass nicely, becomes more powerful with air. Had this many times and this has to be the best of them.
