Sipping Fine Wine

A 7 grape blend: 42% Cab Franc, 25% Merlot, 15.5% Syrah, 6% Cab Sauv, 6% Petit Verdot, 4.5% Sangiovese & 1% Alicante. Deep Ruby with aromas of ripe dark fruits, cedar and spice. On the palate flavors of blueberry and blackberry with herb and woodsy notes. Fine soft tannins, long finish ending with fruit and mineral character. Very nice!

This dark wine has fruit aromas to match - blackberries, currant, black cherry - and I love the way those smells power past the oak effect. The oak has left its mark, with vanilla, cedar, tobacco and a hint of tar on the nose. The palate shows vibrant fruit and earthy notes, with a healthy dose of tannic strength and a racy acidity. I’m having it with chicken Dijonnaise, but thinking of a pork chop to pair with it.
