Classic Sangiovese orange peel aroma with intriguing secondary notes of seared plantains. Massive tannin composition that culminates with a distinct chalky finish. Overall, an aroma profile that was completely bananas left me longing for more from the flavors and composition that ensued. And yes, pun sincerely intended.

2009 Fontodi Flaccianello Della Pieve - Amazing 100% Sangiovese with gorgeous cherry and tobacco. So young, but so good.

I wasn’t sure I’d ever have one of these that had softened but here we are. The French barrique lingers but this is nicely evolved, dusty tannins, earthy—very enjoyable.

This rendition was a bit tighter and more closed than previous bottles. The inward experience was still very good. Lots of subtle oomph here but the fruit was overwhelmed. Solid showing though.

Simply wonderful. This wine needs 90+ minutes to open even with a decant. But when it does it is a layered joyride. Deep purple color. Mine was semi heavy with sediment that I filtered out. Strong bouquet with the fruit in the backseat but still present. Cherry tar earth all evident. It was very good at the open but given time - it lengthened and had so much more going on with each sip.
