Grenache 53%, Syrah 25%, counoise 12%, Mourvèdre 10%. Raspberries, pomegranate, cherries, orange, at the outset splash onto the tongue. Then a understated bitterness accompanies a mildly acidic finish. Easy to drink.

Floral notes from the Counoise, tree bark from the Mourvèdre, Grenache redfruits are somewhat subdued, while the Syrah provides dark fruit and structure, this shows heat (14.5 vs. 13.5 ABV) compared to the fresher 2016, very good, but needs more aging.

Great post thanksgiving wine. Light enough that it’s not overbearing, interesting enough that you’ll keep the pour fast
