This is the 2016 San Giorgio Ugolforte Brunello di Montalcino Sangiovese. On the nose there is cherry, strawberry, roasted pepper, tomato, leather, smoke and dusty earth. On the palate there is cherry, red plum, blackberry, licorice, menthol, spice, clove, minerals and earth. This winenis medium bodied with a smooth silky mouthfeel medium + acidity and medium + fine grippy tannins that leads to a long red fruit woodsy finish. Rustic... This comes across as a Chanti Classico Riserva. Red fruit on the front, earth, bitter chocolate, with a a bit of heat. Enjoyable tannins. This will get much much better! 92+ points

Good Lord is this good. Grabbed a glass then figured it needed some air time. Cherries, leather and almost Friday make this extra tasty.

2016: Darn good Brunello, young but opens to classic Sangiovese flavors after 4-5 hours: tart cherry, leather, tar, menthol, some minerals. Good concentration and mouthfeel. Should be even better over the next few years. $40 sale at GW.

Really delicious. Rustic. Savoury. Mike/minor dark fruit, think black cherries, hints of blackberry. Followed by elegant rustic leather, white pepper, minor notes of earth and graphite. Beautifully integrated tannin. Smooth.
