Black currant and plum amidst loamy earth and wet espresso grounds, light black peppering and river rock. Violets. Young! Grainy tannins, dried lavender and violet, dried savory, cedar, maduro tobacco, bing cherries, black cherry skin, and underripe blackberries and black currants. Do yourself a favor and age this vintage. #châteaubeychevelle #saintjulian #2016 #bordeaux #grandvin #grandcruclasséde1855 #misenbouteilleauchateau

Everything is so good. It’s just stupid. More brooding dark, rich, lush fruits, excellent dark floral bouquet l, dark rich earth, stones, crazy acidity and smooth, elegant, balanced finish.

Drank 1/18/19 at the Union des Grands Crus de Bordeaux event in Miami.  All wines from the 2016 Vintage. Tasting pour, no formal notes taken.  Most of these wines are very tight, and will require 5-15 years to really come together.  Many will likely improve a few points with time. This was an impressive wine and was tied for most impressive St Julien in my opinion, with layers of dark, concentrated fruit and less wood influence than in years past. . This estate seems to be improving steadily over the past few years. Unfortunately, it seems like the prices have risen quite drastically as well...

Surprisingly open for business. Intense dark fruit with the tannins not getting in the way. This is one Bordeaux you can enjoy right now! Dark fruit, cassis, and some graphite notes.

Decanted for a hour. It is really good right now but will be great after several years balancing itself out. Loads of black fruit, leather, tobacco, licorice, and mint. Tannins are still prominent. Had to try one of these to see how they would age.

Barrel Sample. Quite possibly the best Beychevelle period. 2016 has hit new heights and this will be a wine to follow for a very long time. This will be a wine to get. 93-95pts
