Reminds me of an aged Barolo. Still got plenty of life on it; at least another ten. Cigar box, dried cherries and pomegranates. Tar, wood chips, and grape seeds. A little less viscous, but exceptionally well-developed.

One of the best wines I have tasted in the last 30 days together with the Abadia Retuerta one. Cherry and Star anise on the nose. Juicy Dark Cherry, Plum fruit, Vanilla and the right amount of Oak to make it flavorful with an elegant finish.

Vivid cigar box aromatics and well integrated brett. Mineral rich black cherry/cranberry/plum fruit, silky tannins, complex mushroom overtones on the finish. Full of vitality. 28 months in mostly american oak, a modest duration for gran reserva, which may attribute to its deep color after 14 years.

Vintage 2001 | This Rioja is utterly reliable. Cedar and vanilla in smell, quite powerful ánd elegant. Lovely. Paired with beef and a courgette casserole. Today I put the Faustino 2009 in the cellar.
