Smoky black cherry and raspberry-chocolate ganache scents envelope the nose. There is a strong laquerwood note brimming with cedar and vanilla and a cheese-rind nuttiness. Opulent and silky mouthfeel gives way to rush of warm alcohol brushed in smoke and butter. A minty blackberry emerges. The tannins are a texture shy of silky, but very refined, and there is an exuberant interplay of chalky and briny stone awash in orange pekoe. Producer claim’s certified organic. Dark ruby color. Deep and concentrated red and dark fruit aromas and flavors with hints of baking spices and oak. Touch of vanilla on the long finish. Wine is quite rich but pretty well balanced. Medium tannins and pretty full bodied. Easy drinker.
