...The color is a dense purple. The wine reveals high tannin, huge body, and classy black fruits intermixed with minerals, spice box, cedar, and tobacco. A long, persistent, tannic finish gives this majestic effort a closed but formidable personality... Robert Parker

1998 vintage. A great Vcc approaching its peak. Beautiful Merlot fruit with piquant Cab Franc herbs and spice.

Decanted for a bit but wish it had been for longer. Delicious and still young.

Another wine from our Friday night tasting. An elegant but subtle nose of red fruit and Asian spices. Subtle tastes of raspberries, tobacco and a hint of smoke. Tannins are sleek and the finish was very nice with fruit and smoke overtones.

Solid vintage - approaching apogee - seamless and packed w pleasure - not as fine as I think it can be in other vintages but still so ethereal and great lift from acidity - a joy to drink w food and friends - Something so rewarding/refreshing drinking BDX like this - there's still hope for soulful wines from this remarkable region that needs a revival IMHO
