Torbreck Vintners RunRig Barossa Valley Shiraz Viognier 2004 (1500ml)

$419

...Saturated opaque purple/black, it has a remarkably kinky, exotic perfume of fresh asphalt, pencil lead, smoke, pepper, game, blueberry and black raspberry. Full-bodied and voluptuous in the mouth, the wine is dense and packed, with amazing purity, sweet tannins, and a complex collection of sensory stimuli...will provide hedonistic delights through 2035+. Gorgeous, bold and impeccably balanced. Black and blue and purple fruits plus mint, eucalyptus, rosemary. Long finish. Bottle far too small.

Dark purple almost black! Nose is powerful full of black fruit, smoke, mocha. Enjoyable trip including blackberries/blueberries, smokiness, asphalt, mocha into a smooth finish. Still needs time in the bottle...I look forward to visiting it again later.

Still a big wine 11 years later. Berry notes, not as big as some Torbrecks I've tried.

Roy liked this one more than I did. I found it heavy and without much structure. A bit stewed fruitish and over done. Almost like a cordial. Not as appealing as Grange or Astralis.
