On the Lawn at Tanglewood this evening with the Boston Symphony Orchestra. For Opening Night our conductor Andris Nelsons is leading MOZART (Piano Concerto No. 22 in E-flat) with one of our local treasures, Emanuel (Manny!) Ax on piano and then MAHLER (Symphony No. 5), a complex master work for which the BSO happens to be quite well practiced. Prior notes still apply. Baked apple, green melon, light citrus & fresh raspberry spread on toasted sourdough.

Always a delight, especially a 2x magnum. Clean and crisp, green tartness but smooth mellowed undertones.

Taittinger’s house style is fresh and crisp. Chardonnay is always a highlight and it shows throughout the line. Clean and linear with fresh pear and a steely minerality. These would probably be good NV wines to hold for a few years.

Grabbed a bottle to close the Summer on Labor Day weekend. Blend of 40% Chardonnay and 60% Pinot Noir this wine was rich and complex. Pale yellow, vibrant bubbles, Crisp fruit aromas, apples and pears. Palate shows generous mineral and toasty oak notes integrated with the fruit. Absolute a must on your list, a true house staple for me. Great Champagne value. Overall nice summer, a tad wet back east!

Kicking off Passover night two with some bubbles. We may not be allowed to eat leavened things, but this sure smells yeasty. A generous backdrop of applesauce, cold pears, and salt. A wonderful Brut NV.

Always delicious. It's amazing all the domestic crap sparkling wines sell for $50 and this was $36
