Fabulous aromas of dried apple, cream, mango and ginger follow through to a full, dense palate, but it's very fine. The bead is so, so fine. The texture is like silk. Truly superb. I love the contrast between richness and freshness. It builds slowly on the palate and finishes so long and rich. This was 10 years on the lees. Mostly pinot noir. This follows the 2000, 1999, 1996 and 1995. James Suckling

Served blind in a white wine glass, this had a medium gold color and no noticeable bubbles. Nice aged white notes including creme brulee, wet stone, mature fruit. Thought this was a Corton Charlie before I tasted it and only then did I discover the light carbonization. At first this was closed and not offering much, but later in the evening the air caused it to expand and overall this was very nice. I would drink these sooner rather than later.

Rich, dense and highly expressive, baked apple, ginger, toast, candied lemon. The finish is long, intense and racy. Best after 1 hour.

Stunner of the evening. Soft and sublime. Delicate yet present layers upon layers of yeast, minerals and hints of citrus-young and youthful an attention getter.

Champagne of the night for me in an outstanding grouping of Salon, Cristal, Krug and other heavyweights. Rich and creamy with bright, zesty acidity but so light on it’s feet. Citrus with a hazelnut chaser. Thank you kindly @Shawn R

I usually love this wine. 2002 vintage and me, generally speaking ain’t friends, as I think way too many wines’ evolution curve is... not what I hoped for. They evolve fast, and also here, served blind, I thought it was showing to much candied autumn apples and lacked the tell tale sincerity. When revealed I was disappointed.

The 2002 pol roger sir Winston is a little under rated but this is an amazing bottle . Just starting to develop some secondary aromas and flavors . Tasted from magnum .

Pale Gold with persistent fine bead. Notes of freshly baked apple crumble which proceeded to gain complexity with air. On the palate rich and sweet with ripe apple/ citrus flavours and an underlying chalky powdery dryness. Sprightly acidity. Overall - an aristocrat , being delicate refined restrained and persistent. Celebrating a good sale! A great cuvée from an excellent vintage. Will live for ages.
