Color still pretty youthful, ripe dark fruits, but also showing some heat in the finish, solid finish, been a fan of Vieux Donjon for a very long time, but no doubt the alcoholic heat detracts just a bit. For me, another example of a 1990 southern Rhône where overripeness has won out, contrasted with the still fresh, lively and well-balanced 1989s!!

Medoum-dark ruby, mature aromas, similar on palate, the 1990s with their ripeness have evolved quicker than the 1988s and particularly the 1989s, very good but ready to drink.

Rich, roasted fruit, but nicely balanced, not as deep or complex as the great 1989 Beaucastel from last week, but quite good!!
