François Pinon Silex Noir Vouvray Chenin Blanc 2015

$22.95

...a beautiful young bottle of Vouvray, offering up a beautiful synthesis of youthful exuberance and great structural integrity for the long haul. The bouquet is pure and classic, wafting from the glass in a blend of sweet quince, fresh pineapple, lanolin, hints of honeycomb, a gorgeous, chalky base of soil and citrus blossoms in the upper register. On the palate the wine is deep, full-bodied and complex, with a lovely core, great soil signature, bright, perfectly-integrated acids and outstanding focus and grip on the pure, dancing and utterly classic finish. This is a demi-sec in 2015, with an utterly seamless palate impression and the potential for magical complexity down the road... this wine will go for decades in the cellar! 2017-2050+. John Gilman, A View from the Cellar

This isn't sipping wine. You just have to chug it. So f'n delicious! There are wines that may technically be better but there are few that are more enjoyable.

This stuff is on point. Racy acidity with Chenin typicity. Orange marmalade and lanolin. Tough to put the glass down

Stewed ripe apples, ripe apricots. Slight oxidative nose with some white mushrooms and soy beans. Off-dry. Sharp acidity.

Pure pleasure. Someone said singed hair on the nose, which is so perverse, but I love it. Incredible acidity, simply mouthwatering. Classic chenin notes. One imagines this is the tap water in paradise.

Pale gold on the color. Moderate+ viscosity. Lots of ripe yellow apples, pears, white peaches, orange zest, slight botrytis and honey. Dry, pretty high acidity, almost tart apple and lemon, good minerals. The palate is very different from the nose. Very balanced and moderate+ finish. Absolutely love it!
