...the Fonseca '07 has a very broody, introverted bouquet at the moment, demanding several minutes to open up (dutifully afforded I might add.) Curiously, there is something that reminds me of the sea...something estuarine, iodine or seaweed. The palate is full-bodied with lush, ripe saturated tannins, good acidity and purity, like the nose very primal and biding its time. Dark berries, dates, fresh fig just in the background and fine crispness on the finish, marked with just a dash of cracked pepper.
