E. Guigal La Mouline Côte-Rôtie Syrah 2009

$599

Just as good, but made in a completely different style, the 2009 Cote Rotie la Mouline (which incorporates a whopping 11% of Viognier) offers an insane bouquet of roasted meats, toast, spice, caramelized meats, coffee bean and deep, concentrated and layered blackberry and cassis-styled fruit. As with the 2010, it has off-the-chart richness, a stacked mid-palate and a gorgeous polish to its tannin...drink it over the following 2-3 decades. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Primarily Syrah with 11% Viognier blended in. Deep ruby color with a slight garnet rim. Fragrant tertiary aromas of smoked meat, charcoal and earth. Pallet is loaded with dried red fruit and black pepper, toast and dark chocolate and coffee. Mineral tinged finish. Extremely soft tannins and gentle acidity. Probably at the end of it’s drinking window, but still fantastic! A gift from my children that I will always remember.

En solitaire, un infanticide ! Manque de complexité à ce stade, unidimensionnel et tout d'un bloc. À revoir dans 8-10 ans

Great tasting of old world syrah based wines. Great concentration, subtle tannin, very long clean finish. After awhile, notable new French oak permeates the glass. Aged 42 months. Very ripe fruit.
