Domaine Saint Préfert Réserve Auguste Favier Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2007

$115

The 2007 Chateauneuf du Pape Reserve Auguste Favier (81.2% Grenache, 15% very old vine Cinsault, and the rest Syrah, half of it aged in cement tanks and blended with the other half aged in three-year-old, 600-liter demi-muids) is another exhilarating wine. Blue/purple to the rim, with notes of camphor, incense, blueberries, licorice, spring flowers, and copious fruits of assorted red and black colors, the wine is broad, full-bodied, with superb purity, good freshness, and stunning length and texture. This gorgeous wine should age nicely for up to two decades. Robert Parker

Excellent. Kirsch, concentrated. Not much in the way of tannins. Drink soon.

Not for me. Dull pruny and sweet.

Big and loaded with fruit and garrigue. A touch of heat.

Big, rich and ripe. Almost new world in taste profile. Sweet cherry Grenache fruit. Acids are soft, still has some tannic grip.

Close to perfection. Will stay that way for many more years. Or, it will get even better.

This has the bit the Cos St Jean was missing. Still well integrated but looks to have some more aging potential
