Clos Saint Jean La Combe des Fous Châteauneuf-du-Pape Red Rhone Blend 2016

...the classic blend of mostly Grenache mixed with a small amount of Syrah and Vaccarese. It’s a huge, unctuous effort that packs an incredible amount of blackcurrants, garrigue, pepper and dried flowers into its balanced, elegant, layered personality. It picks up a charcuterie meatiness with time in the glass, as well as the telltale melted licorice characteristic of perfectly ripe Grenache. Count me as a fan and this heavenly juice shouldn’t be missed by any Rhone lover. Jeb Dunnuck
