Château Troplong Mondot St. Émilion Red Bordeaux Blend 2000

$199

Combining remarkable elegance allied to considerable power and depth, this is the finest wine from Troplong Mondot since the staggeringly great 1990. Its saturated purple color is followed by aromas of ink, creme de cassis, graphite, and toasty oak. Full-bodied and powerful, with excellent balance, this is a wine of extraordinary richness and massiveness yet surreal freshness as well as vibrancy. The finish lasts for over 45 seconds and nearly conceals some hefty tannins. With fabulous definition, richness, and intensity, this is a compelling 2000. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2026. Robert Parker

Typical Bordeaux dustiness also with aromas of pipe tobacco and ripe plum. From an excellent vintage. Soft developed tannins at full maturity IMO. Not sure of the final breakdown but in the past it has been 65% Merlot 15% Cabernet Franc and 10% each of Cab Sauvignon and Malbec. A good example of a Right Bank Claret.

A TM in great shape, and so young! Very happy with this OWC. It’s delivering from te je start to the end of the bottle

2000 Troplong Mondotte. a nice bordeaux though thin on fruit. i would have liked to see more fruit and more richness. this was thin and the tannins were more astringent than i would expect in a 16 year old wine.

Started off slowly, not tight but not particularly inviting, but came alive after 2-3 hours open. Was a very nice yin yang with Talbot in terms of flavor profile.
