A fabulous example, the 1990 Troplong Mondot is only equaled by such recent vintages as 2000, 2005, and 2008. The inky/garnet/plum/purple-colored 1990 exhibits notes of coffee, blackberries, licorice, camphor, and espresso. Rich and full-bodied with lavish fruit, high glycerin, low acidity, and stunning purity, it is still several years away from full maturity, and should last for another 10-15 years. Robert Parker

The group really liked this. I wasn’t as keen. Too ripe.

Peaking beautifully and completely polymerized. Oak and tannins totally resolved, yielding hedonistic fruit. Just a whisper of heat stress and a touch of syrup on the finish.

Still youthful. Traces of Brett, but not overbearing. Tasty

My first night in DC for the American Heart Association's Heart's Delight! A weekend of wine... Off to a good start to make up for the 5-hour Air France delay!

Wow, never would guess that has 30 years on it. Fruit and acidity but balanced with hints of gentle tannins. Constantly evolving in the glass, dried fruit, spices, eventually hints of earthy. Superb.
