Château Montrose Saint-Estèphe Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2009 (1500ml)

$789

1989 and 1990 deja vu all over again?...There is no sense of hotness, only extraordinary transparency and precision, allied to massive fruit intensity...this super-concentrated claret possesses a style reminiscent of the sumptuous 1990 combined with the structure of the 1989...the finish is endless. The flavor profile bursts with black currant, blackberry, and boysenberry fruit intertwined with hints of spring flowers and crushed rocks. Huge body, sweet tannin, and wonderful freshness make for one of the all-time great wines ever produced at Montrose. Robert Parker

Focused, dense, hard outer shell, tightly wound and locked ... But Loaded with quality marks that will take patience to enjoy... Graphite, dark fruits, young cassis, and tannins that shutter the meek - 98 points - save for a decade before considering to open. List to $400 napa competitor in France vs California by learnaboutwine.com 5.25.14 #delectable #wine

This was a foal. While it’s apparent that it will one day be a stallion, it’s got a lot of growing to do. The nose has all kinds of wonderful deep fruits, spices and depth. The palate is quite closed and structured. Just couldn’t help checking in on it. It has astounding potential.

Deep almost opaque ruby , narrow ruby rim . Quite closed and mineral at first , cassis , dark richer rounder fruits , blackberry and dark cherry . Richer more dense darker fruits on the palate , cassis , blackberry , with quite a mineral , grafite , earthy undertone . Rounded but high gritty tannins , good balanced refreshing acidity . Quite a big powerful wine but the alcohol is well integrated . Good length , with a touch of grafite and spice on the saline tinged finish. This should be given time , another 10 years preferably , and will show well for a further 10-15.
