In the flight of young wines, with all the vintages of the nineties represented, this wine stood out for its absolute purity of creme de cassis, ripe fruit, medium to full body, high tannin, wonderful sweetness, massive richness on the mid-palate, and abundant power, density, and ripeness. It is clearly the finest Lynch Bages since the 1989 and 1990. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2025. Robert Parker

Reddish tawny. Barely translucent. Notes of red fruit, cedar, smoke and wet earth. Nicely developed. Good not great.

Complete integration and still has lovely fruit. Like meeting an old college friend after many decades and not missing a beat.

Catching up. Subtle and solid but nothing really stands out. Some mushroom and herbaceous qualities, dark red fruit, pencil lead and cedar. I’ve had much better from Lynch Bages.

On the nose, sweet & sour fruits with a touch of barnyard and fresh red flowers. The body is medium to full. The fruits are gloriously ripe & slightly candied liqueured. Blackberries, dark plum, dark cherries, strawberries & strawberries. Touch of pyrazines. Ground powdery limestone, leather, soft graphite, dry herbs, dry stems, used leather, cedar, fresh tobacco, cigar ash, cherry cola, black turned earth with bright red florals. Great acidity and a well balanced finish that lasts minutes. It’s in a great spot and will continue to improve for another 8-10 years.
