Château Lynch-Bages Grand Cru Classé Pauillac Cabernet Sauvignon Blend 2014

$165

"This has fascinating aromas already with blackcurrants and cassis. Hints of spices. It's full-bodied with ultra-fine tannins and a long, focused finish. Muscular but toned and beautiful." - James Suckling

Monthly WTF guys blind tasting group. This month was our annual, and famed, Left Bank vs Right Bank theme. All wines served blind as usual. Started off with a Rosé and a champagne. Great night. Painfully young. Underripe raspberries, black cherries, charcoal, black tea on the nose. Graphite, blackberries, and underbrush on the palate with a monster tannic finish. Needs so much time. I called this ‘12 Left Bank.

Paired with 96 and 85 LB for fun. Dark, opaque and purple. Over the top with its fruit and teeth chattering tannins. Great to see what these start like and where they go in 20-40 years.

Disjointed. Oak and fruit at the forefront with sharp acid and tannin. I’ll chalk some of it up to youth but I’d expect more from this property

Darker and more exacted for a typical a LB. Ripe blackberries, dark cherries, big strawberry finish, dusty brown soil, dry stones, leather, steeped tea, coffee grounds, nice acidity and delicious finish.

Wonderful Bordeaux with loads of development let to occur. This 2014 is a very big wine that should mature well over the next 20 years.

That's a fantastic bottle. So good and so young. Very smooth with little tannic overload.
