An absolutely spectacular Tertre Roteboeuf, probably the only other vintage that will reach this level of quality is the 2000. The 1990 has a deep plum/ruby color with some lightening at the edge and an extraordinarily flamboyant nose of jammy black cherry and berry fruit infused with smoke, caramel, and coffee notes that soar from the glass. This is a very viscous, full-bodied, silky textured wine has a to-die-for finish and enough glycerin and body to get lost. It is just entering its plateau of full maturity. A wow-wow wine! Tasted blind. Deep, dark amber tinged and tawny color. Hits me immediately as a gravel-influenced Bordeaux and I’m am in Graves with my guess. Notes of tobacco, graphite, ash, earth and gravel stone. Big shoulders, and a little hot. Yet silky in the mouth. I guess 82 La Mish HB. This has plenty of life in front of it, but give it 5+ hrs of air if consuming in the near term as the provider of this wine did.

Oldest of the wines this nite...red to a brick/brown rim, slightly cloudy...very little if any fruit left which was a little disappointing...all tertiary, earth, mushroom, toast, fig, but a slight sweet vanilla, quite complex.

Tasted blind. Similar descriptors for this wine sitting next to the 82 LLC. Bright fruit. Earthy. Wow factor with puckering acidity going up against a strong core of fruit. Also very young in its journey. Needs a few more decades to acquire some complexity and secondary/tertiary characteristics. Also 94+

Nice aged Bordeaux. Slight browning at the rim. Garnet color. Pencil lead, sour cherries and leather. Full body, and long finish. In a great place.

This really brings out the best of merlot. Still some youth and this bottle was clean and pure and showing just the right amount of age.
