Château Latour Les Forts de Latour Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2010

$285

A solid, briary, grippy, tarry Pauillac, with a sappy edge to the kirsch, blackberry, plum skin and steeped fig notes, liberally laced with anise and tar. Shows good energy through the finish, with a cassis bush note echoing. Best from 2017 through 2035. Wine Spectator

It was very good but not fantastic or special. Long decant definitely improved it (drank over 6 hours). Very well balanced if a little narrow. Consistent fruit notes with some earthiness. Wanted to like this even more but it seemed to ultimately under punch it’s weight a bit to me.

Solid foundation perhaps opened too soon. Not overwhelmed nor surprised (solid but lacked the wow effect I’ve gotten on premier crus or second growths that are a third or half the price)

Commanderie de Bordeaux. Theme was BBQ and 2010 vintage. Fantastic event. Needed more decant time.

Dark, dense ruby. Explosive nose of dark fruits, flowers in the spring, pencil shavings, mint. Very mouthwatering. Velvety tannins, full body, medium plus acidity. Ripe, rich, and complex. Mineral aftertaste and long finish. 95-96.

Well balanced. First glass was very tannic but opened up nice. Probably needs two hours of decanting
