Château Latour Les Forts de Latour Pauillac Red Bordeaux Blend 2005

$299

A deep garnet colour. The nose has tightened up a little since I last tasted it in January. But it retains that exquisite, complex bouquet of blackberry, bilberry, damson, cedar and here, just a hint of sandalwood. It opens up further after ten minutes, gaining intensity and vigour and yet still holding something back. Medium-bodied, superbly balanced with fine but firm tannins. Very pure. Blackberry, bilberry, a touch of hoi sin...yes, something slightly Oriental evolving here, an element that lends it another dimension. Wonderful... Neal Martin (eRobertParker.com)

A hearty and rich Forts, could bluff its way to a 1st growth blind. Consensus was this needed more time but decanting a few hours brought out sweet layers of cedar and dark red berry. Monster nose.

Great now, but will last ages. Concentrated fruit, firm tannins. Cedar and lead.

Takes a good 30-45min to open up but once it did this offered layers of fruit and earth and a nice lingering finish.

Classic Bordeaux on the nose with cedar and black cherry. Nice oak and tar with integrated tannins that remain but are nearing the downward slope in the cellar. Less intense than the Grand Vin but a nice Latour nonetheless.

Deep ruby almost purple hue with secondary influences of garnet. Blackberry, creme de cassis, molasses, anise, vanilla, baking spices, earth, mushrooms, leather, and tobacco notes; soft tannins, smooth on the palate; everything is in balance to deliver a deliciously elegant complement to the meal. ABV 13%. Vintage 2005. #lesfortsdelatour #lesfortsdelatour2005 #pauillac #pauillacdelatour #medoc #medocwines #frenchieattitude #winedown2019
