From the outstanding ‘10 vintage, bold and rich with great depth and structure. Notes of black currant, blackberry and hints of spices and graphite

2010, A great Saint Julian Grand Cru which surprisingly for a 2010 is already approachable today, it has a deep garnet color, a complex nose with lairs of black currents, plums, cherries, covered by black chocolate, sweet spices and a touch of licorice, a full rich body, with smooth rich tannins, a great balancing acidity and a long rich fruity finish. A great demonstration of the depth richness and complexity of the 2010 vintage. My score 90, drink to 2024 perhaps longer.

Aromas of raspberries and blueberries on this giant carry through on the palate. Pomegranate and currant emerge on the tongue with notes of tobacco and cocoa. The tight tannins are showing that they need another 10 years to soften.

High expectations. NOSE: Cassis, black (dark, ripe) cherries, a little mulberry, mint jelly, minerals, a little tobacco, a little cedar, coffee. All very restrained. Smells nice. Like Bordeaux. TASTE: very good. Tobacco and a little smoke right off the bat … fragrant wood (cedar) … then dried berries. Some definite black pepper too - almost a little Syrah-like. Very dry, balanced, elegant. Makes me think of … parchment. I like ‘em a little fruitier, but it’s great anyway. I would call this a wine lover’s wine. And should kill with the steak I’m about to have….would be great with steak au poivre. Happy birthday to me. 93.

Wanted to try a bottle to know what to expect. This will be great in another 5-10 years.

In the zone: rose petals, cranberry, cherry and leather aromas. Soft red fruit flavors, leather, and tobacco. Exactly what I love about Bordeaux!
