The 1982 Lafite possesses a dark, dense ruby/purple color with only a subtle lightening at the rim. Spectacular aromatics offer jammy cherry and black fruits intertwined with lead pencil, mineral, and smoky wood scents. Powerful for a Lafite, this wine unfolds to reveal extraordinary richness, purity, and overall symmetry in addition to stunning flavor depth and persistence. The finish lasts for nearly a minute. Plenty of tannin remains, and the wine displays a vibrancy and youthfulness that belie its 18 years of age. The modern day equivalent of Lafite-Rothschild's immortal 1959 ($9,500), the 1982 will enjoy another 30-70 years of life! An amazing achievement! Robert Parker

Silky and refined. Subtle notes of lead pencil and soft chalky red fruit. Very complete and subtle and delicious. Harmonious

The 1982 Lafite-Rothschild is a wine I have drunk several times, though maybe this is the first time in magnum. It is deeply impressive. Deep in colour, it has a classic Pauillac nose with intense black fruit mixed with pencil shavings and black truffles. It simply oozes class. The palate is very well balanced with finely-chiselled tannins, spellbinding definition and immense, dare I say it, almost "Latour-like" stature on the persistent finish. Magnificent. Tasted at the 1982 Dinner at Hatched. (Neal Martin, Vinous, September 2022)

Don’t understand this wine. Dinner of 10, no one was impressed. Don’t think this is a bottle with decades ahead.

This was a solid one, not much fruit left, but the aromatics were extremely lifted & high toned.

This was one of the 82 Bdx that we had vs. the 78 Napa's. Honestly, and I'm a little shocked to be saying this, but it didn't hold a candle to any of the Napa wines. Not sure if the bottle underperformed or what, and it was double decanted and allowed to open, but just stayed lean and sharp. Lacking of fruit.

Gorgeous example of this wine. Wonderfully expressive and aromatic. Perfectly mature but on the plateau with no signs of falling off of it.

Just stupid perfect in every way. Potentially the best wine I've ever tasted.
