Complex aromas of scorched earth, minerals, black fruits, lead pencil, and subtle wood accompany this classic, full-bodied, La Mission. It boasts superb purity, an expansive, concentrated mid-palate, and sweet tannin in the long, muscular yet refined finish. This was absolutely mind blowing! Dense purple in the glass, graphite and cedar bouquet, layers and layers of silky smooth sweet tannins and blueberry smoke infused fruit. A stunning plush, expansive masterpiece. Wow.

1998 vintage. Open approximately three hours before tasting. Light-medium body. Subtle complexities and that silken, milk chocolate creaminess that just glides along forever. Hints of sweetness and tobacco on the finish. One of those beautiful Bordeaux that you could seemingly drink all afternoon without palate fatigue. Has entered the optimal drinking zone but feel it’s got a few more tricks up the sleeve before hitting the top of the bell curve in the next decade. Always a treat.

1.5 hour decant (decent chunky/fine/cloudy sediment). An amazing dark purplish ruby red color...still looks young. On the nose: Nice big beautiful aromatics of graphite, currants, forest floor, sweet tobacco, creme brulee, and a little green veggie/barn yard funk. Taste: NICE! A smooth, soft, elegant, vibrant medium plus body wine with cedar, leather, blueberry, earth, smoke, and a crushed gravel-pencil lead_medium plus finish. Could drink this all night, but will probably be gone in the next hour.
