...an intense bouquet with hints of mint, coca and mocha, showing more Cabernet Franc character than recent bottles, with impressive delineation. The palate is medium-bodied, quite fresh and vibrant with grainy tannins, good acidity and persistency with a meaty, savoury, Cabernet Franc driven finish. Very fine and it improves with time, with an edgy citrus finish and delicious dark chocolate/espresso decorating the aftertaste. I have had better bottles of the '98, but this is still a lovely Pomerol that should enter its plateau in the next couple of years. Neal Martin (eRobertParker.com)

Mocha, espresso, cedar, tobacco and touch of leather. Drinking beautifully and didn’t need long in the decanter to really blossom

Showing very developed for "only" being 17 years old. I blind-guessed this as a wine from the 70's and will need to taste it from another bottle before I make up my mind.

Site: Dark with a slightly cloudy body with a nice meniscus producing a graduated color scheme from the rim to the heart of the glass. Colors of deep dark burgundy to brickish garnet to a wide clear translucent brownish rim due to the age "1998". Nose: tar and smoke with overripe black fruits. Barnyard smells of wet old leather and horse. Tobacco, pipe old smoked leftover pipe tobacco. Palate: macerated, puréed dark fruit left to ripen. Cherry, cassis, cranberry, plums and blackberries. Acid: high+, still solid tannic acid and fruit acids. Finish: is long and lingering lasting. Defiantly a steak and potatoes wine. A dish with out too much complexity to take way from the flavors of the wine.
