Château Haut-Brion Pessac-Léognan Red Bordeaux Blend 1995

This wine has been brilliant on every occasion I have tasted it. More accessible and forward than the 1996, it possesses a saturated ruby/purple color, as well as a beautiful, knock-out set of aromatics, consisting of black fruits, vanillin, spice, and wood-fire smoke. Multidimensional and rich, with layers of ripe fruit, and beautifully integrated tannin and acidity, this medium to full-bodied wine is a graceful, seamless, exceptional Haut-Brion that should drink surprisingly well young. Anticipated maturity: 2000-2030. Robert Parker

The 95 is broader, riper, rounder and more lush than the 94. Sweet ripe cooked blackberries, black raspberries, black plum, cooked strawberry compote, dry cranberries, sweet spice, dark cocoa, dried flowers, dry tobacco leaf, soft leather, sweetened coffee grounds, wet black earth, gravely pebbles and round dark fruit finish that doesn't end. Out of 375ml. It's perfect now and will last in good form another 5-7 years in 375ml. Proper storage of course.

Smoky dark berry, cigar box, wet gravel. Quite elegant with a long finish. One of the wines of the day.

1995. A little past its prime but a good wine for sure.

1995 vintage. Exceptional provenance and pedigree. Some argued she needs more time, others embraced her current state of appeal. Heavy leather, spice and texture. Big void on the fruit profile. Nonetheless enjoyable.
