Cayuse Vineyards Cailloux Vineyard Syrah 2014

$175

...it has a floral, perfumed bouquet of ripe berry fruits, plums, orange blossom, fruit cake and mulled spices. Picking up a touch of green olive with time in the glass, this full-bodied, ripe, downright sexy beauty will have two decades of longevity. Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Seamless, beautifully transparent and light, tannins fallen away and left a surge of transparent energy. At first, an animal quality, horse stable notes, musk, and mincemeat. Then this resolves into pure, incisive peony, lavender and white truffle. Stunning. Wow. Can’t keep my nose out of the glass. Every sip is like a new passage. With time, I’m increasingly taken with this wine. Increasingly acknowledging it may be as close to perfect as just about anything else I’ve tried.

Floral, berry nose. Clean tannins and very long after taste of black berries. High acidity.

First Cayuse experience. Was nervous it might be blown out, but this was pretty spectacular. Packed with savory aromatics and fruit. Bold and full, but modest alcohol (13.6) with structure to balance.

Simply outstanding WA Syrah. Beguiling nose of scorched earth and flowers, undergrowth. Southern Rhone on the palate, but on the smoother side, meat, leather, asian spice. The '13 was even a notch better!

Damn. This hums. Beautiful red flower florality and silky tannins. I feel weird about this though because it's nothing like French Syrah. Almost no pepper, redish purple fairly see-through color, long finish but it jumps you up front in flavor so you know it's Syrah.. the way you get pulled into a great Napa Cab, that's how I feel about this in respect to itself. Minerals taste unique
