The wonderfully light, mysterious and perfumed 2014 Las Umbrías is always the lightest and most ethereal of Comando G's offerings...this is a real triumph over the conditions of the vintage. It has the citrus, blood orange character of the vineyard...it is wonderfully balanced, silky and velvety, with some chalky tannins and a remarkable finish lifted by the fine granite minerality... Where to start? This beat the hype surrounding it and Comando G in general. The comparisons to Rayas hold, even if they are unnecessarily. This Garnacha is breathtaking even w/ out any reference points. Cranberry, white pepper, rosebuds, sweat and granite. The price made me hesitate to open it, and surely it will age well, but it drank beautifully from start to finish as is. Few wines move me like this did

Light bodied, strawberry, alcohol but a very interesting wine

Rayas, but not Rayas. More like effusion Rayas. Tasty, but pricey

Young and structured. Lovely nose. Grenache, but didn't have the blood and minerals you see in Rayas #notrayas
