Bodega Catena Zapata Nicolas Catena Zapata Mendoza Cabernet Sauvignon Malbec 2007

$95

The flagship, the 2007 Nicolas Catena Zapata, a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Malbec, and the balance Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. It delivers an enthralling aromatic array of pain grille, pencil lead, mineral, espresso, mocha, incense, lavender, black currant, black cherry, and blackberry. This leads to a full-bodied, powerful yet elegant effort with great depth and volume, precision balance, and a voluptuous personality (a D-cup of a wine)...Drink 2010-2032...Catena Zapata's newest releases continue the high standards established by this Bodega virtually from its onset, a tribute to Nicolas Catena who continues to oversee his empire. Welcome to the long weekend. Tonight I have opened the 2007 Catena Nicolas Catena Cabernet Sauvignon. From Bodega Catena Zapata Mendoza, Argentina. The blend is 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Malbec and the remainder Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc. On the nose there is black cherry, blackberry, black currant, leather, licorice, vanilla, smokey oak and dark rich earth. On the palate there is black cherry, blackberry, black currant, licorice, leather, cedar, cigar box and earth. This wine is full bodied yet showing it's age, soft and supple with medium to medium + acidity and medium to medium + mouthcoating grippy tannins that lead s us into a long black fruit and significant earthy finish. This is a great expression of Argentine Cabernet with some good years left in the bottle. Looking forward to this weekend and spending time with family. Have a great weekend and please stay safe and healthy. Nostrovia!

Fairly fruit forward, with dark fruits, blue berries, a nice spiciness as well.

Pretty incredible stuff. Creme cassis, blackberry, and tar on the nose. Very plush and silky on the palate. What a wine!

Quintessential voluptuous Malbec. Full of dark berry flavors, damson. Nice acidity, still fresh despite the 10 years age. Highly recommended, loved it.
