Named after his raven-haired Irish wife, the 2006 Syrah Lorraine, which comes from more sandy soils, is another prodigious effort. Like all of these wines, it is a remarkable wine of extraordinary intensity, with a stunning nose of blueberries, bacon fat, camphor, and even darker blackberries, along with unreal minerality and definition for a wine of this size and power. Full-bodied, with profound intensity of flavor as well as purity... there will be only 350 six-packs of the Lorraine. Robert Parker

Final wine for 2017, appropriately so because it was good. Pop and pour. Huge wine, purple black color, rich fruit, grilled meats on the nose, thick viscous blackberries, currants, ink and dried blood. Would score higher but this needs another more time maybe 5-10 years.

Had this last night then again today. WOW...second day I'm drinking blueberry fruit , big, deep but light on its feet - special wine.

2006 Lorraine. Incredible aromatics, but the palate is surprisingly closed. Still has terrific balance and a great, seamless finish. Suspect this needs a couple of more years in the cellar (impressive for a wine that's already >8 years old), but you could drink it now with a couple hours of decanting. Excellent now...but will be great.
