My youngest son's 21st birthday was last night and this was his selection - not a fan from my past experience but this is pretty good - I bought at an auction awhile back and had forgotten I even had it but he went right to it - haha - so for a birthday wine it is fantastic Love you son and he and I are smiling together

Bright, dark red with ruby highlights. Very dark aromas of black cherry, cassis, blueberry and licorice. Then rather plush, sweet and full for Opus One, conveying a chocolatey ripeness to its dark berry flavors. Finishes with smooth tannins that build without going dry. This wine was broad and smooth from the outset. Today it's a generous mouthful but a bit clunky compared to some more recent vintages. This was reportedly the first vintage to include a significant percentage of Petit Verdot, and that may explain the wine's emphasis on black and blue fruits. (14.5% alcohol) (Stephen Tanzer, Vinous, July 2019)

Tasted through a chunk of "cult" Napa Cabs tonight. Tons of garbage, but this 09 Opus really stood out. Only balanced wine of the bunch.

Wonderfully balanced and still fruity aromatics. Sadly only a couple more of these left in the cellar.

Smooth, oaky, flowery and cooked fruit aromas with vanilla, cedar, cloves, and slightly peppery. Plush mouthfeel and long finish.

Super good fruit on nose and silky mouthfeel. Longer finish than the two earlier Rubican's. Pleasant and rewarding.

From magnum. Too young in my opinion, and not showing much. It was popped and poured, and could of used some time to open.
