Note that while the label just says 1er Cru, without a vineyard designation, the cork suggests it’s an organically-grown wine from Les Fichots. Whatever it is, at 7 years of age it is still very very tight and young. Nose is a beautiful combo of sultry, just ripe cherry sap and limestone-flecked moist earth, with just a bit of baking spices. But in the mouth it is lean, right, and crisp. Mostly cracked limestone minerality and a bit of tart cherry. Mouthpuckering acids and tannins. This is built for the long haul and I took it on too short a trip. The 9.0 is based on potential, not current pleasure.

Pretty textbook Pernand: barely ripe cherry and loads of chalky rock dust to tingle the nose. Crisp and linear, with a clean minerally finish.

@Delectable Wine This is the 2013 Louis Boillot Pernand-Vergelesses 1er Cru rouge. Lightish color. Interesting nose: earthy, limestony, a little cheesy, with some nice tart cherry underneath. Minerally and tight in the mouth. Lots of fine-grained chalky tannin. Tart cherry fruit. Feels like a bunch of separate components -- tannin, acids, minerals, fruit -- that have yet to integrate. 8.6 for now, but likely higher in 2-4 years.
