The 2005 Latour is a huge wine predestined for long-term aging. Noticeably deep in color, it has a showstopping bouquet with intense black fruit, graphite and touches of dried blood and tobacco as it considers moving into its secondary phase. But that's going to be slow coming...it's in no hurry. The palate is medium-bodied and unapologetically classic in style. I notice this bottle is a little grainy in texture, the salinity perhaps heightened as it enters adulthood. The finish has a tangible sense of tension, but it remains backward and swarthy. Immense. Tasted at Woo Cheong Tea House dinner organized by Paulo Pong. (Neal Martin, Vinous, February 2024)

Sleek and dark; stallion-esque. Herbaceous nose boasting rosemary, cardamom, light bay, rich river soil, cocoa shell. Lovely dip into licorice and ripest black currant; graphite threaded seamlessly throughout. Mint circulating through s complex and fulfilling presentation. High theatre. . . #ChateauLatour #Grandcru #firstgrowth #firstgrowthbordeaux #bordeaux #leftbank #leftbankbordeaux #pauillac

The 2005 Latour was mind-blowingly profound in two recent tastings for this report. Deep and sensual to the core, the 2005 is utterly captivating. All the elements are so seamlessly put together. Graphite, crème de cassis, licorice, dark spice and lavender infuse the 2005 with so much energy. More than anything else, though, the 2005 is a Latour of texture and resonance. Even after several hours, the 2005 is fresh and full of energy. Wines like this are just life affirming. That's about all I can really say. Tasted two times. (Antonio Galloni, Vinous, April 2021)

Chateau Latour is my favorite 1st Growth, they demand patience and inspire not just hedonistic pleasure but also analytical thought. Both amazing but need massive amounts of air or another 15-20 years minimum in the cellar. I get the feeling they both will hit a plateau once they blossom and slowly move towards full maturity for decades. The nose on the 2005 rose with little agitation and shot from the hip to nose with ease. By far the most youthful and intense nose of the evening. The 2000 was not dissimilar in its progression, if a bit more refined from the extra few years in the bottle. A cerebral wine that was also deeply pleasurable, it kept bringing me to what this wine will be like in 15-20 or more years. Easily a 50 year wine from a macro view. Epic #latour 2000 and 2005 #pauillac

Luscious and fruity, but still well shy of its true potential.

Somewhat subtle yet mesmerizing nose. Give this baby time. 5, 10 years? More?

Ex Chateau Release...absolutely stunning. This 2005 is starting to shed its baby fat and is truly a majestic wine. Drinking beautifully today but will continue to age for years to come. 98pts
