Great wine to watch the Bastille Day fireworks, loaded with spices and balanced with fruit. Awesome texture and freshness.

Beaucastel has always made my favorite wines. Lush fruit w a little licorice. It has a little of that classic 'meaty' character as well. A great value from a renowned producer.

Really solid wine with a heat, spiciness and extraction. But in balance. Pair with http://www.doxologywine.com/musings/2015/5/21/matters-of-trust

Fruity (cherry), with a touch of licorice and spice. Prude finish, leaves you wanting more..

I let it breathe for 30 minutes before drinking and kept it open through dinner. Strong on the first scent and then it adopts a meatier smell. First impression is earthy and dry like jerky. Strong tannen. Low full bodied fruitiness. Best with cheese and meats. Easier to drink as it breathes. Huge fan of the Perrin family wines. Would buy again

Ballin on a budget (sort of). Baby CNDP. Layers of dark fruits ranging from ripe, to jam, to dried. Blackberry juice, dried figs, roasted plums, black raspberries, powdered sugar. Enough garrigue and meaty charm, licorice, peppercorns, cocoa, cloves, spices, sweet tannins and forest. All this classic CNDP character and density on a approachable frame. Crushed it w/roasted lamb gyros.

Slim pickings for dinner. This was a tad harsh. Gritty. Tarty. Softened after it opened a bit. Good bright red fruit. I think for less than $20 retail probably ok. But not ok at mountain prices.
