‘Las Alturas' Spanish for 'the heights', a fitting name, this vineyard located on one of the highest grape-growing benches in the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA. Winemaker Joseph J. Wagner is a 4th generation winemaker from a family with farming and winemaking roots in the Napa Valley since 1906. Met Joe on his recent trip to CT. Deep Ruby (darkest Pinot I have come across, almost looks like a Cab). Rich berry flavors with cedar, spice and vanilla. Lingering ending with sweet oak notes. Nice! A Fav!

It’s a fun quaff. Not typical of the varietal, but still enjoyable.

Surprisingly good. Really enjoyed this as it presented close to the varietal. OTT, but not too much.

Pinotfiles lament this wine, a scandalous PN with the heart of a Napa cab. I loved serving it beside the Ken Wright PN just to show in 2 sips the range of great wine that can come from this amazing grape. Rich, unctuous and always a crowd pleaser. Immense dark cherry concentration with a woodsy tannin length in a smooth and sexy package. Serve this blind and have fun with people.

‘Las Alturas' Spanish for 'the heights', a fitting name, this vineyard located on one of the highest grape-growing benches in the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA. Deep Ruby (darkest Pinot almost looks like a Cab with a nose and tastes to match), aromas of ripe berries and spice notes. The palate shows rich blackberry and cherry flavors with cedar and cacao. Rich soft tannins, firm acidity on lingering finish ending with oaky tones. Nice!

When drinking young Belle Glos presents a rich and concentrated rendition of PN, which is not to everyone’s liking. With some ages in the bottle, it has evolved nicely. Chocolate and vanilla notes have subsided where mushroom and wet leaves emerge. The palate becomes even more smoother while the acidity still feels fresh. From magnum. Really nice developments.

At PnP was a fruit bomb. After an hour open, opened up and nice fruit at front gives way to some tobacco and black pepper. Really like that. This is more me than the BG Clark and telephone for sure.
