It's time for my #FridayCabernetfix. Here is a tasty Napa Cabernet. Dark ruby in color with a very short reddish rim. Fruity nose of blackberries, sweet cherries, black currants, oak, vanilla, licorice, spices, tobacco, barnyard, chocolates, vinaigrette, earth, wet leaves and herbs. Full bodied with medium plus acidity and long legs. Dry and fruity on the palate with plums, cherries, sweet strawberries, black currants, earth, wood, vanilla, barnyard, vegetables, dark coffee, herbs, tobacco, chocolates, mocha, spices, peppercorn, leather and pencil lead. Long tangy finish with soft tannins and tangy cranberries. This is a great Napa Cabernet. Showing nice complexity now. Nicely balanced with a nice mouthfeel and a tangy finish. Feels much older than its age, although not showing it on the color. Good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up and removes some of the stinky nose. This 5 year old from the great 13 vintage, is drinking very nicely now, and will get better in the next 5 to 15 years. I had the 2012 when it was a 3 year old. What a big difference time makes. Robert Parker 94 points. Thank you Wendy for sharing this with me. I paired it with a charcuterie board of meats and cheeses. A blend of 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot and 3% Cabernet Franc. Aged in 70% new French oak barrels. 14.6% alcohol by volume . 92 points. $75.

A treat in honor of the team that just visited Barnett last week. Brings back memories of being up on Spring Mountain myself.. Gorgeous, intoxicating nose of lilacs, raisins, cocoa, cranberry, and black plum. The palate is expansive but smooth as silk. More chocolate and raisins on the palate, bright features that speak to the elevation with a nice acidity too. Powerful but elegant at the same time - what I love most about mountain fruit. A delicious wine that will only improve over time but I don't even care that I opened it this young, it's delicious right now.

Highly concentrated blue/purple in the glass, gives way to hints of smoky blueberries and spice. Nice mid palate, smooth oaky finish. Excellent! @Barnett Vineyards

What a treat! Extremely powerful in its youth but that's what happens when you use 60%+ new French oak. Initially decanted this for 2 hours, but it ended up finally showing the tip of the iceberg at 3. The nose was enticing, showing spicy cedar, clove and cigar ash components, and brambley red fruits. The juice itself was dark purple and had long, slow moving legs, showing its high alcohol and concentration. The pallet exhibited notes of pomegranate seeds, tobacco, black pepper, black berries, smoke, vanilla extract, faint hints of dark chocolate powder and we'll integrated tannins tightly weaving all the complex layers together and producing a gripping finish. This juice needs much more time in the bottle, but was an absolute pleasure to experience now. Way to go David Tate! You're a heck of a wine maker! Drink 2018-2030 $89.99

Needed 2 hours to breath , and we emergency decanted to a Water Pitcher! I swear. Picture next! Fabulous fruit of blueberry loads of other black dense fruit. Wow! Also soft mouth filling tannins even with the decant! Tried before hand Morgado Rita's Crown 2013, previously reviewed! 2 bottles at dinner tonight! CB 94+

Musty cellar on the nose. Tart cherry nose baking spice and a lot of depth. Intense with a firm finish. Nice
